August 10th, 2024 Match Results

Let’s look at some numbers.  89 competitive shooters, 8 stages, 8 squads, more than 7,650 rounds of ammo (not including zeroing) and about 6 hours’ time.  What an amazing COF this month was.  We also welcomed 8 brand new competitors who had a great time.  5 of the 6 divisions were represented in the overall top 10.  The weather was just as unpredictable as the stages were with 80–95-degree temperatures, blaring sun to cloudy overcast, light breeze to heavy winds, hot temps to a torrential downpour of rain.  Overall, the weather was great for most of the match.  The rain burst came as the last shooters were finishing up their final stages and it was a welcoming change to rapidly cool things back down.

What didn’t cool down was our competitors.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd were separated by 1 impact!  The top 23 spots were separated by only 10 impacts.  When the rain burst settled, the sun came back out and David Civello stood on top of the podium for that coveted 1st place overall, and first place in Open Division.  He barely squeaked by Boyd Linder who takes 2nd place silver from the timed stage by only 15 seconds (1.5 points).  Alberto Perez takes 3rd place Open, just one impact behind David and Boyd.  David earned 695.0 points to Boyd’s 693.5 and Alberto’s 681.2.  Now that’s tight.

It didn’t stop with the Open Division.  4th place overall was taken by Stephanie Baxter who was only 2 shots behind Alberto. Stephanie solidifies her 1st place in ladies’ division with 662.0.  Joely Pratt takes 2nd place silver in Ladies with 603.2 and Yuki Civello takes 3rd place bronze with 581.3.

OG’s battle it out every month and when the dust finally settled, Owen Fjeldsted found himself in 1st place gold and 6th place overall with 652.0 points (4 impacts behind 1st overall).  Scott Robertson takes home 2nd place silver with 600.0 points and Carey Palmer gets 3rd place bronze with 581.0.

Air Rifle gets into the top 10 by Dusty Powers who puts his air gun in 7th overall.  Dusty scored 651.2 points for that 1st place gold tag in the Air Guns Division.  Matt Stajduhar takes 2nd place silver, just 2 impacts behind with 623.3 points.  Troy Fuit takes home 3rd place bronze with 591.8.

Kaylyn Kingston didn’t let the crazy weather get in her way as she puts Young Guns into that coveted top 10, just 5 impacts behind 1st.  Kaylyn gets 9th place overall and 1st place gold in the Young Guns division with 642.0 points.  Hudson Hughes (22LR) and Teyl Petersen (Air Rifle) battled neck and neck all day but in the end, Hudson edged out the timed stage and lands 2nd place silver with 534.4 points.  Teyl gets 3rd place bronze, just 3.9 points behind Hudson with 530.5.  We had 10 Young Guns this month!!!  Awesome job for all our Young Gun Shooters.

Adam Payton continues to surge in Base Division, earning 1st place gold with a score of 540.0.  Matthew Sample gets 4 impacts more than Cody Hatch for that 2nd place silver tag.  Cody takes home 3rd place bronze, earning 430.0 points, right behind Cody’s 473.3.

Match breakdown: 6 Air Guns, 7 Base Division, 6 Ladies Division, 8 Old Guns, 32 Open Division and, 10 Young Guns.  We had 8 first time competitors.  The average hit ratio for all shooters for the match was 69.18%.  Thank you everyone for coming out and for everyone who helped set up and those who hurried during the rain to help take down the targets and props after the match.  I can’t name all of you but please know how much your help is appreciated.  We are blessed to have so many people help make the Big Salt NRL22 club the biggest and best in the nation.  Thank you everyone and we will see you again next month!
