July 13th, 2024 Match Results
Utah is in the middle of a heat wave with temperatures expected to be 100+ all week long with the possibility of record highs! That didn’t deter 67 shooters who battled the heat and each other to see who would be on the podium for this month’s match. Match breakdown was 6 Air Rifle, 5 base, 5 Ladies, 6 OG, 4 Young Guns, and 41 Open Division shooters. We also had 6 new first-time shooters testing their skills today.
Bottles of ice water couldn’t cool down David Civello as he was on fire, dropping only 2 shots out of 75 for a match score of 737.0 points. Earning 1st place gold over Alberto Perez and Aaron Gines. Alberto takes second with 704.3, just 3 shots behind and Aaron takes that 3rd place podium spot with 696.4 points. 4 impacts separate the top 3 and only 10 impacts separate the top 13 spots.
Another hot one was Joely Pratt who placed 9th overall and puts the Ladies Division into the top 10. Joely scored 646.2 points for 1st place gold! Stephanie Baxter earns 2nd place silver with 604.9 points and Yuki Civello takes 3rd place bronze with 532.4. Great shooting ladies!
Another top 10 goes to our Young Guns division with Easton Baugh slotting into that 10th spot with an amazing score of 645.8, earning 1st place gold in the Young Guns Division. Titus Baugh is also doing amazing with 554.6 points for that 2nd place silver tag! Kaylyn Kingston earns 3rd place bronze with 424.4 points!
Matt Stajduhar is just barely out of the top 10 sitting at 13th place overall, but still hot enough to get that 1st place gold in Air Gun Division with 636.0 points. Troy Fuit earns 2nd place silver with 535.8 points and Kathy Stajduhar comes in 3rd place with an amazing score of 360.5. WTG Air Gunners!
OG’s are fiercely competing against each other every month and it is always fun to see just who is going to take that top podium spot. Owen Fjeldsted for the second month in a row claims top dog position with a gold tag finish of 612.5 points. 2nd and 3rd place OG came down to just seconds on the clock! After the heat waves dissipated, Carey Palmer was just fast enough to snag that 2nd place silver tag from Scott Robertson (5 seconds faster). Carey scored 584.6 points to Scott’s 584.1 points.
Base Division Gold was snatched up by one of our newer shooters, Adam Payton who scored an impressive 420.0 points overall. Great job Adam! 2nd place silver goes to Matthew Sample who scored 293.7 points and 3rd place bronze goes to Cody Hatch who scored 263.0 points.
Special thank you to Brent Baxter, Aaron Gines and others that brought out canopies to help tame the heat, the misters were awesome. Also want to thank all the shooters who helped with setup and takedown before and after the match, your help is appreciated so much it is hard to put into words. We have the best club in the nation, and it is because of the amazing shooters and how much they help support the club and each other. Thank you all. Look forward to doing it all again next month! As always, stay safe, shoot straight and bring a friend!
